Scholars Ancaster creates a comfortable environment to tutor students of all education levels

Rob Braley says it was the right time to open his new business Scholars Ancaster.

He had been planning to open the franchise in March 2020 just when the coronavirus pandemic began to force the city, school boards and businesses to introduce health measures and curtail operations. But when he opened the business in October in the Ancaster Town Plaza at 61 Wilson St. W., it was at the time when parents were looking to get their children some needed education help after months of virtual learning.

“A lot of parents and children are facing different ways to learn,” he said. “So far, the business has been pretty good, and we are meeting expectations.”

Scholars Ancaster offers tutoring in all subjects, including math, science, reading and writing, for students in kindergarten to Grade 12. Braley said the curriculum is customized for each student to suit their learning needs. He said it is not a “one-on-one” learning environment, but students learn with other students in very small groups up to three students.

He said Scholars Ancaster provides a two-to-one ratio of tutors to students to create an enjoyable learning environment.

And to accommodate the current health and safety requirements, Plexiglas is installed between students and tutors.

Scholars Education Centre franchises are located across the Greater Toronto Area, as well as in southern Ontario. Braley said he found Ancaster an appropriate demographic environment to set up shop after studying the market.

“We are offering a service that a lot of families with children can use to help them with their ongoing learning at school,” said Braley.
